Board Bits 3/27/24

The  CVUU Board of Directors met on Thursday, March 21, 2024, via Zoom.      Board meeting minutes are typically available upon request from the CVUU Board Secretary or the Congregational Administrator ( Susie Gullixson) approximately 30 days after the date of the Board meeting.

The Board meets every month, either via Zoom or in person. The meeting is usually on the third Thursday of each month at 7 pm. The meeting is open to congregants to observe. Congregational members who want to present items to the Board must notify CVUU Board President David Kidd before the meeting, so they can be included on the agenda. The following is a synopsis of pertinent items. The next Board meeting will be April 18,  2024

Rev Viola:  The Minister continues to provide ongoing support to the Faith Development program for adult groups such as facilitating a Bereavement Support Group and a Covenant Group. She is also heading a four-part workshop called “ Sermon Writing and Service Creation”

Rev Mark: Ongoing and upcoming classes are still being offered from yoga to astronomy. The playground has money left in the budget and a bench and other equipment are being explored. There are always ways to volunteer from the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt to Chalice Camp tentatively scheduled for the last week in June.

Finance: The 2025 Pledge Campaign is underway with phones being placed to solidify pledges. To keep our current level of programming we will need to increase our pledge giving by 13% over the next three years.  This is a very heavy lift, but we can do it.

Board Votes:

Voted to Approve the Social Justice recommendation to vet one charity a month for a 50/50 plate split instead of the previous two a month charities.

Voted to Approve bringing a consultant group to CVUU called Next Steps in the fall TBD to look at finances and future planning

Voted to Approve the proposal of  CVUU Art of Sound, concerts to benefit CVUU under Crystal Lennon.   First up, Joe Jencks, June 8, 2024!   Details forthcoming.

Board Bouquets:

David Borntrager for his wonderful ability to ensure safety while performing sexton duties

The Playground Committee for creating a fun and safe place

A big shout out to all who have pledged.   We are grateful!
