Board Bits

The CVUU Board of Directors met on Thursday, November 16th, 2023, via Zoom. Board meeting minutes are typically available upon request from the CVUU Board Secretary or the Congregational Administrator (Susie Gullixson) approximately 30 days after the date of the Board meeting. The Board meets every month, either via Zoom or in person. The meeting is usually on the third Thursday of each month at 7 PM. The meeting is open to congregants to observe. Congregational members who want to present items to the Board must notify CVUU Board President David Kidd prior to the meeting so they can be included on the agenda.

The following is a synopsis of pertinent items. The next Board meeting will be December 21, 2023.

Reverend Viola: We held our first child dedication since the pandemic, and it was wonderful! A new offering of “ Read with the Rev” is scheduled to take place on Nov. 18th, and the Bereavement Support group continues to meet. The worship service on Nov 12th included a New Member Ceremony, which welcomed six new members!

Rev Mark: Children and Adult RE is in full swing, from OWL classes for the youth to Yoga classes and an upcoming Art Class in January. The UU History class was canceled due to low attendance but may be offered sometime in the spring, TBD.

Building and Grounds: The playground is progressing wonderfully.

Voted to Approve: The Board voted to approve a new insurance carrier for CVUU, a new addition to the PPM concerning the Personnel Committee being fulfilled by the Executive Committee in the absence of a formal Personnel Committee and lastly staff bonuses.

Word on the Street: Concerns have been raised concerning a person sleeping on the covered porch. The Board is addressing this and will work with Social Justice and Building and Grounds to devise a strategy on best practices.
