Board Bits

The  CVUU Board of Directors met on Thursday  October 19 , 2023 via Zoom.    Board meeting minutes are typically available upon request from the CVUU Board Secretary or the Congregational Administrator ( Susie Gullixson) approximately 30 days after the date of the Board meeting.    The Board meets every month, either via Zoom or in-person.    The meeting is usually on the third Thursday of each month at 7pm.    The meeting is open to congregants to observe. Congregational members who want to present items to the Board must notify CVUU Board President David Kidd prior to the meeting, so they can be included on the agenda.   The following is a synopsis of pertinent items.   The next Board meeting will be November 16, 2023

Rev Viola: The Minister continues to provide ongoing support to the Faith Development program regarding  adult programming and works closely with the Director of Lifespan Faith Development. The Minister is currently coordinating the Covenant Groups, and is facilitating the Covenant  Group for new members which meets on the third Sunday, and another Covenant Group which  meets on the third Wednesday. A third new Covenant Group is meeting on the second Sunday.  Registration remains open. 

 A new offering, “A Read with the Rev” was rescheduled from Oct. 14th to Nov. 18th and will  involve a shared read with the Minister. The title of the book is Unlocking the Power of  Covenant. It is a report issued by the UUA’s Commission on Appraisal. Registration is required.

Rev Mark: Adult Faith Development is partnering with the Social Justice/Welcoming Congregation by offering a movie, Moonlight and discussion.  This will also be part of the recertification as a Welcoming Congregation happening on Oct. 21st @ 5:00 PM.

  • A yoga class will be starting on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 9:30 AM.  Registration is on the CVUU website. 
  • OWL Parent Orientation on September 23, 2023 from 9:00-12:00 PM in the Social Hall was a success.
  • OWL Lock-in on Oct. 7-8 was well attended, and both levels were able to cover sessions.  They had dinner, and 7 youth spent the night with Paul Moss and Venessa Metcalf Wagner as chaperones.
  • OWL classes started on Sunday, October 15 at 9:30 AM.

Finance Committee:  Will begin a trial run of quarterly reports for ease of reporting and reviewing.

CVUU Fall Auction is off to a great start with 74 items to bid on!  It is a great way to connect and support CVUU

Playground: Progressing wonderfully thanks to all who are helping to include David Borntrager and Paul Moss

Special Offering: “ Share the Plate” . Currently on a trial basis for three months.  The Board will review in January whether to continue or not.
