Board Bits 1/6/24

The  CVUU Board of Directors met on Saturday,  January 6, 2023 at CVUU, following the Board Retreat.      Board meeting minutes are typically available upon request from the CVUU Board Secretary or the Congregational Administrator ( Susie Gullixson) approximately 30 days after the date of the Board meeting. The Board meets every month, either via Zoom or in person. The meeting is usually on the third Thursday of each month at 7 PM. The meeting is open to congregants to observe. Congregational members who want to present items to the Board must notify CVUU Board President David Kidd prior to the meeting so they can be included on the agenda. The following is a synopsis of pertinent items.   The next Board meeting will be February 15, 2024.  

Rev Mark: There are 39 registered children and youth.

Beginner Painting Class starting Jan 23rd with Lynda Simmons

Amatuer Astronomy February 3rd from 6 PM – 8 PM on the 3rd floor.  This is a drop-in event for ages 16 and above. 

February 4, 2024, Rev, Viola, and Rev Mark are offering a class at 1:00 PM called “A Read with the Revs.” We will be reading The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine: A history of Settler Colonialism and Resistance, 1917-2017 by Rashid Khalidi. Three registered.

Voted to Approve:  Motion presented to delay decision concerning the plate donations until further discussions and input can be garnered. The Board will revisit in February 2024 Board meeting.  

Security:  The Board continues to review all recommendations from the Safety committee to include locking the doors 5 minutes after service has started on Sunday. The congregation was notified of this decision. Further recommendations will be forthcoming.   

Rental Task Force:  The Rental Task Force will meet in January with recommendations for the Board.
