Sunday Service

Join us at 11 AM on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, for “Spirituality Before Religions” with guest speaker Stan Lee Thompson.

How do you create the balance between Science and Spirituality? Are we Spiritual beings having an Earthly experience?

Stan is a native of Virginia, has worked in the past with numerous organizations. A Board member at the Portsmouth YMCA, as well as a Board member at Norfolk State University Foundation Board. For several years, Stan was active in the financial community making it possible for First Time Homebuyers to qualify for housing in South Hampton Roads. Stan enjoyed working with young boys at the YMCA in the Rites of passage program. He is a proud father of two daughters who have blessed him with 5 grandchildren. Stan considers himself as an educator but more importantly a student of life.

Stan’s spiritual journey started like most of us, the religion of our parents, Christianity as a Baptist. As early as age 10, Stan questioned the stories read from the Bible being inconsistent with what he was experiencing at that young age. As a late teen he converted to Seventh Day Adventist learning that the 7th day of the week was Saturday, at then learning later that in 325 C.E. that Constantine during the council of Nice changed Saturday to Sunday. Stan converted from Christianity to Judaism for 20 years. Then in 1991, Stan had begun reading about African History and African Spiritualism. He also studied some of the contributions made to the world by the Nile Valley Civilizations which ultimately became life changing.

The theme for February is Embodying Resilience.
