Join Us at 11 AM on Sunday, January 5th, for “Fire Communion”  with Rev. Mark Wise, our Lifespan Faith Development Director.

This will be a unique service and ritual – we will bid farewell to the old year and release it! In the words of Rev. Elizabeth Harding, “The fire communion separates the end of the year from the beginning, helping us to put in perspective the joys and sorrows, the changes and transitions, the ups and downs of the year. It’s a halfway point in our church year, but a celebration of the outside calendar’s year’s end and year’s beginning.”

Rev. Mark Wise holds a BA in Religion from Centre College and a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary (NYC). He also has a graduate Elementary Education certificate from Georgia Southern University and has taken many continuing education classes from different colleges.

Before joining the CVUU staff last year, Mark taught elementary education for 28 years in Georgia, Vermont, and Virginia. He retired from Alexandria City Public Schools in June 2021.

The theme for January is Story.

These services will be offered in person (AND ON ZOOM) at 11 AM.
