I hope that you all had a wonderful and safe Labor Day Weekend.
As you may already know, this month’s theme for Worship and Religious Education is “Renewal.” In these stressful times, we need to think about ways to renew ourselves. Many of us have spiritual practices that we engage in that renew and fortify us. One of my daily practices involves the expression of gratitude for those large and small gifts that find their way into my life. Sometimes I am surprised by the people I have met and by the many things that have happened to me that can only be considered blessings. What are some of the things that you feel thankful for that might be able to renew and restore you? There is almost always something to be thankful for, no matter how bad things get. Sometimes we just have to look harder for it.
Beginning this month, we will have a Theme Reflection, hosted by me, which will take place on the fourth Thursday of every month at 6:00pm in Zoom. The meeting ID is 852 0538 9358; and the passcode is “theme.” We will talk about the ways in which the monthly theme resonated for us and thoughts we might have about challenges it presented. We will also spend a few minutes considering the theme for the upcoming month. The first meeting will be on September 24th. I am looking forward to some interesting and inspiring discussions, and I hope to see many of you there!
Don’t forget, I have a regular Check-In and Chat on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00am to 12:00pm.
And, in the spirit of renewal, for a mid-week pick-me-up, give a listen to this song by Erik Hassle https://youtu.be/gAHk5EXkyvs
See you at the Homecoming service on Sunday, September 13, 2020!
In peace and love,
