This month’s theme is “Becoming.” When we think about becoming, we often think first of growing, of becoming more and more. One of our UU faith sources is “Jewish and Christian teachings which call us to respond to God’s love by loving our neighbors as ourselves.” UUs have long welcomed this as a call to kindness. This is another way to honor Easter. This past Sunday, the children shared their ideas of how they can be kind to one another by showing radical acts of kindness. Some examples are:
Donate money to charity.
Tell others you love them.
Get along with your siblings.
Color pictures for people you love.
Call, Zoom, or Facetime folks you haven’t seen in a while.
Great suggestions. We then had our annual Easter Egg Hunt. This one was virtual – we gave parents ten Easter eggs per child to hide either the night before or the morning of RE. The children had 10 minutes to find their eggs. Most of them found most of the eggs and appeared to have a great time. It wasn’t the same as being together, but the egg hunt was pretty exciting to watch.
Children’s Chalice Chapel begins at 9:45 AM on Sundays and is usually done around 10:15 AM. Sometimes we go a little longer due to having too much fun. We are always done in time for the church service at 10:30 AM.
