From the Minister 6/8/22

Dear Ones,

This past Sunday, we celebrated the Flower Communion.  What a wonderful first service for this month’s theme, Celebrating Blessings!  And being together as a liberal religious community that honors and uplifts the differences in all of us is truly a blessing! And one of the things we are called to do as a religious community committed to bringing justice, equity, and compassion into the world is to make sure that we share whatever blessings we have with others. And so, as is our practice on the second Sunday of the month, which is this coming Sunday, our offering will go to benefit a worthy cause in our wider community, Virginia League for Planned Parenthood.

This Sunday we will be having our Annual Meeting.  So, please make sure that you do not forget to stay after the service.  You will be hearing important information from our leadership about what is in store for our future.

We will be having another Pathway to Membership class on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. on June 11th. If you want to attend and have not already indicated your interest, please email me at During the service on June 19th, we will celebrate all of the wonderful people who have decided to be new members.

If you are the parent or guardian of a child who is participating in our religious education program, please attend our small group for parents that takes place at the same time as classes on Sunday morning. It is held on the third floor of the church building. No registration is required.

We still need two more CVUU members who want to be delegates for us at the General Assembly (GA) of the Unitarian Universalist Association. GA will be taking place from June 22 to June 26, 2022, in Portland, Oregon. It will be multi-platform, so you can participate virtually if that is your preference. Aside from the fact that CVUU needs delegates, GA is a great event to participate in, mainly because it presents many learning opportunities, and it is a wonderful way to get to know other Unitarian Universalists.  Delegates participate in the business meetings and vote on matters of importance to the denomination. If you think you might like to provide this valuable service to CVUU and have the opportunity to meet Unitarian Universalists from all over the country, please send me an email at To find out more about this year’s General Assembly, visit this link,

In keeping with our monthly theme, Celebrating Blessing, I close this week with “Blessings” by Lecrae.

In peace and love,
