In 2022 CVUU voted to take a public stand on the issue of medical aid in dying. This year bills have been introduced in both Houses of the Virginia legislature (HB 858 – sponsor Delegate Patrick Hope and SB 280 sponsor Senator Ghazala Hashmi) authorizing medical aid in dying in Virginia. It looks very promising that the bill will be voted out of Committee in one or possibly both houses. This will be a first.
The time has come to put action behind our stand. Please contact your legislators and let them know you support HB 858 and SB 280.
If you would like to know more, here is information about the issue and the bill.

For insight into the human side of this issue here are two recent op-eds. Both are reflections on the death of a loved one. One in a state where medical aid in dying is legal (CLICK HERE ) and one in Virginia (CLICK HERE).
