In March of 2022, CVUU’s Community Table started offering an “All Are Welcome” hot dinner once a week. We saw a need for food support in our immediate area and thought it would be a good way to grow our outside community. CVUU has a new mutually helpful relationship with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.

We began with a blessing in the parking lot from Rev. Viola, 25 meals, and just a handful of guests. Today, the number of guests fluctuates – we peaked one week at 90 meals, and now we are averaging 50-60 meals each Wednesday. Our guests drive by on the way home from work or walk over from the motel and condos near us. We see new faces most weeks and have several devoted guests. The meals are healthy and very good. We invite everyone to dinner Wednesdays at 5 PM.

Volunteers staff our Community Table (we always could use a few more), which is funded by delicious fundraisers, donations, and annual budget support. You all help to bring our love out into the neighborhood. This program has outpaced our wildest expectations and is still growing. We need support to keep up the momentum.
