The CVUU Board of Directors met on March 20, 2025, via Zoom and in person. Board meeting minutes are typically available upon request from the CVUU Board Secretary or the Congregational Administrator (Susie Gullixson) approximately 30 days after the meeting date.
The Board meets every month, either via Zoom or in person. The meeting is usually on the third Thursday of each month at 7 PM and is open to congregants to observe. Congregational members who want to present items to the Board must notify the CVUU Board President, David Kidd, before the meeting to include them on the agenda. I’m sharing a synopsis of relevant items here. The next Board meeting will be on April 17, 2025.
Rev Viola: Welcome back! May 6th, 2030, is our 100th Anniversary, and we must begin planning for this event! Also, Rev Viola was asked to serve on the leadership board for the Interfaith Alliance!
Rev Mark: 37 youth are registered. June 1st is the Bridging service, and June 8th is the Coming of Age service. Building your own theology class, possibly to be re-offered. TBD.
Finance Committee: We still have a surplus from The Hague School payout, which is currently in a CD. Hopefully, the surplus will remain into next year. This is the second month in which attendance has remained up since the pandemic! The proposed budget has been drafted but not finalized. The request is an 8% increase from each congregant. This will reflect the budget growth from last year’s $460,000 to this year’s $429,000.
Ken Saucer presented to the Board on behalf of Social Justice a request to demonstrate on Military Hwy. in front of the church every Sunday after coffee hour. It will demonstrate our Principles and what we stand for as UUs, not a protest with any hate speech. We will be creating “ joyful noise”. Signs will be requested to be apolitical, based on UUA guidelines and in keeping with our pending 5013c status. The Board voted to approve.
Tidewater Cluster — April 26 at First UU Richmond Church but organized by UU Community Church of Glen Allen: Please attend!
Board Bouquets: Susie has been asked to join the board for the Association of UU Administrators (AAUA) with the understanding that she would become their Treasurer after a year. We want to congratulate Susie on this important post! This is an honor for her and CVUU!
Thank you to the Stewardship and Finance Committees, Doug and Crystal, and our fabulous Zen Chef, Michael, for the Stewardship Kickoff Dinner.
We are indebted to the Caring Team, Pastoral Associates, and Rev Mark, who nurtured us during Rev Viola’s sabbatical and continue to provide love and care to the congregation.
