May 1st is right around the corner, and to celebrate its arrival, this Sunday, we will be having a Maypole dance in the Gathering Area at the close of the service. It will be the first one since before the pandemic shutdown, so it is truly a momentous occasion! I hope you can attend. The service will be multi-platform. If you are participating by Zoom, please have a heart with you that you have drawn, or you can print and cut out this heart.
We will have hearts for those of you attending in person. We will be using them in the service.
I hope that all of you can attend the installation, which celebrates our covenant together as Minister and Congregation. It will be on May 21st at 2:00 PM. It will be an afternoon filled with celebration, music, food, and the gathering of new and old friends. Here is a link to the invitation: https://tinyurl.com/CVUU-Installation
We are still in the middle of our Stewardship Drive. If you have not pledged yet, please do so. There is still time to let us know what you intend on giving for the upcoming church year. The Finance and Stewardship committees and members of the Board are working together to develop the budget for the church year that runs from July 1st, 2022, to June 30th, 2023. What is included in the budget, and, perhaps more importantly, what is not included, depends on you. Your financial pledge to CVUU is one way that you can demonstrate your love and commitment to this community. You can make your financial pledge here: https://tinyurl.com/cvuupledge.
The General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association will be taking place from June 22nd to June 26th, 2022, in Portland, OR. It will also be multi-platform, so people can participate virtually. CVUU needs delegates to represent the church in the business meetings where decisions are made about the future of the denomination. These delegates will also report back to the church on what has taken place. If you think you might like to provide this valuable service to CVUU, please send me an email at email@example.com. We really need your help in making sure our Sunday services happen. We especially need people who can help with the technical aspects of our worship. Don’t worry if you think you don’t know enough, there are people who can teach you what you need to know, and you can have fun learning and meet great people while you do. Please drop me at email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to discuss whether this is something for you.
The Check-In and Chat is tomorrow at noon. Come, bring your lunch and spend some time together in good conversation!
And this week, I close with “Spring (Among the Living”) by My Morning Jacket.
In peace and love,
Rev. Viola Abbitt
