Dear CVUU,
The CVUU Board of Directors would like to invite everyone to our annual meeting after the service on June 8th. At that meeting we will talk to you about our church year, show you details in the upcoming budget, and present to you the wonderful slate that the Nominating Committee has put together for your vote.
Our congregation is doing some amazing things, and we have much to celebrate. Nothing could happen for CVUU without the incredible devotion and thoughtful work of many people.
Thank you to the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Nominating Committee, Buildings and Grounds Committee, and everyone involved with Program Council. Tech Crew did so much to make our services great, and our choir and talented Music Director, Crystal Lennon, have given us wonderful music. Our Worship Services team brought us great services. Special thanks go to our Rev. Viola Abbitt and Rev. Mark Wise, our ministers who lead and counsel us on so many things. Lee Ellen Knight stepped in to run worship services during Rev. Viola’s sabbatical, and she did such great work with those services. Our office is so wonderfully staffed by Susie Gullixson, Office Administrator, and Tracy Brune, Communications Coordinator. Their efforts helped us bring this annual meeting to you today and so much else throughout the church year. Gena Dickens, Membership Coordinator and Alicia Luna, Event Coordinator, have joined us this year, and they have done great work.
I could list many, many more individuals here, but I want to make sure that I mention Annelies Brock, Robyn Thomas, Sally Daniel, Doug Throp, and Julia Lawrence. These folks have done heroic things to keep our church headed in a good direction. Annelies Brock led a historically active and inspired Finance Committee and stewardship campaign.
Robyn Thomas and Doug Throp kept everything in our building working and together for all our activities. Sally Daniel, along with Amy Hutcheson, led a Rental Task Force that kept our church together financially, and I can’t tell you how much work Sally Daniel has given to help our church. Julia Lawrence hit the Unitarian-Universalist trifecta of working on the Finance Committee, the Board of Directors, and Worship Services. I hope you will vote for her as Treasurer because she brings so much experience, drive, and understanding to what our beloved community needs to move forward.
Please come to our annual meeting on June 8th where we will have even more of a chance to thank these folks and hear about our church year behind us and the one ahead. We will present the congregation with a slate of nominees for the next church year, and you’ll be voting for them online.
Thank you for the chance to serve as your President. I couldn’t have gotten anything done without the incredible executive committee team of Jennifer Shore, Amy Hutcheson, and Ed Welp. These three have done superb work, and they have been such good company even when we were working far later than any of us wanted to. The Directors on our Board have done excellent work this year, and they have all put their hearts and souls into their work. We owe them all our thanks: Judy St. George, Kerry Kilburn, Pat Ives, Andy Bedinger, Tami Burke, Julia Lawrence and Nikkie Lucier.
We often say, at the end of a service, that together we can do what we could never do alone, and there’s nothing like working with people in our beloved community to see how true that is.
Best,
David Kidd, CVUU President
