July 15 – with Kathleen Caywood – “I am transgender, and I endured many years of shame and guilt because of it. Even today there are LGBT people who are ashamed of what they are, but LGBT is not the only cause for shame. Gamblers, immigrants, people with mental illness, alcoholics, smokers, and people of color, abuse victims and more are shamed. Unitarian Universalists can offer support and a welcoming community to encourage people to let go of their shame.”
Our speaker, Kathleen Caywood, has degrees in English literature and computer science. She retired after 30 years in various computer jobs, and took up the violin which gives her immense satisfaction.
