Join the almost 60 CVUU congregants who’ve completed the Pledge to End Racism workshop. Members of the CVUU Racial Justice Subcommittee will be conducting our fifth Living the Pledge workshop on March 23th and April 6th from 9am-4pm. We have had interest from a number of non-CVUU-affiliated folks who would like to take the workshop, so we are now opening a few spaces for community members, too.
The goals of this workshop are to:
Integrate the CVUU Pledge (which states ways we can stand against racism) into our daily lives
Recognize and challenge systematic racism
Confront racism and bias in our everyday lives
Take leadership in ending racism in our community, our culture, and our lives
This class is for both people who have taken an anti-racism/multi-cultural class before, or for those who have never taken one. You can deepen understandings you already have while accepting the challenge to invest in and deepen your learning so that you can put yourself on the road to greater intercultural competence.
Childcare will be provided.
Some things to consider:
If you sign up, you are asked to attend all of both the March 23rd and April 6th sessions.
One $20.00 fee (more of you are able, less if you are not) covers you for both sessions. This fee goes to help defer the cost of copies, materials, and lunch (which will be served the first day).
Be willing to complete a couple of hours of pre-reading before each of the two sessions. We will send out the link to participants once they register.
We are really hoping that many of you want to do this and are able to work it into your schedules, as we believe this will help us move toward the beloved community that we all seek.
Please email Em Lock at [email protected] by 5:00pm on March 15th if you want to participate. Thank you so much. We look forward to embarking on this journey with all of you!
