The April 28th celebration of our journey to becoming Coastal Virginia Unitarian Universalists took months of planning, many volunteer hours, many meetings and hundreds of decisions, from invitations and catering to overflow parking — the day came and went in the blink of an eye!
We hosted the choirs of three visiting churches, heard blessings from seven visiting ministers and had more than 250 people in attendance as we honored the past and welcomed the possibilities of our future in this new sacred space.
For those of you in our CVUU family who were unable to be here with us for the celebration, you can read Rev. Jeanne Pupke’s sermon here: http://www.c-vuu.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/newsletter-May-1.pdf
Or to hear a recording of Matt Griset’s anthem, “We Can Build Our Home,” just click here: https://youtu.be/yEMX5LotMgM
We also showed this short slideshow filled with images to mark our journey to our new sacred space. Enjoy hearing the testimonials of longtime members as well as the beautiful sounds of the UCN Choir from many years ago. Thank you to Hannah Sobol for recording the testimonials and to Doug Throp, Clark Mahoney, Pat Ives, Steve Daniel and Garland Tillery for providing the pictures. We received greetings and well wishes from many former congregants as well as our former minister, Paul Boothby and UUA President Susan Frederick Gray. Follow the links below to hear their messages.
