Dear Members and friends of CVUU:
By now many of you may have heard of the tragic deaths yesterday of a beloved staff member at the UU Congregation of Fairfax (UUCF). I’ve attached the message that went out to the UUCF community. Please hold the loved ones of Flori Perez and our UU siblings in Fairfax in your hearts as they grieve this terrible loss. Colleagues have reached out to Rev. David Miller and his team, and we are all trying to do what we can to offer solace and support. It is a small world, this UU faith of ours, and some of you may also be affected by this loss. Let us be gentle with each other at this especially sad time.
A message from UUCF staff:
We are heartbroken to let you know that our beloved colleague Flori Perez Diaz was the victim of a murder-suicide on Saturday night by her husband, Vladimir Ralda. Vladimir was also on staff at UUCF as our landscaper and he helped with event set-up.
Flori served as UUCF’s custodian for more than 10 years. She was a vibrant, positive and caring co-worker and friend. We cherish and love her and will miss her terribly.
We also mourn for the couple’s children, Lizbeth (Stephanie), 19, and Michael, 10. Stephanie often helped her mom at work and was one of our regular child care providers. Stephanie’s boyfriend, Nathanael Cooper, was also killed during this tragic event. Stephanie and Michael are currently living with their aunt.
Flori’s family wishes for Flori and Vladimir to be buried in Guatemala. Please join us in lending financial support for this and any other expenses Stephanie and Michael may face as a result of losing their parents.
